Manuel J. Rose, Jr., (Manny), 73, of Londonderry, NH and formerly Medford, MA, passed away on Sunday May 18, 2008 after a brief illness. Manny was born in Boston, MA on July 8, 1934, a son of the late Manuel J. Sr. and Jessie (Alfama) Rose. After receiving his Bachelors degree from Fitchburg State College in MA, he taught cabinet making at Minute Man Vocational High School in Lexington, MA for 20 years. After retirement he began substituting at Greater Lowell Tech High School in Tyngsboro, MA. Manny was also on the advisory board for both schools. A veteran of the US Air Force, Manny served eight years as a Master Sergeant. A portion of that time was spent in Korea. He also served in the Air Force Reserves for 19 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Barbara of Londonderry, NH and his sons Paul Rose of Orlando, Fla., and Robert Rose and his wife Kelly of Derry, NH, three grandchildren, Kelsey, Jared and Kaylee Rose. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Hutchins of Bellingham, MA, Dolores Taylor and her husband David of Port Richey, Fla and his brother Richard Rose and his wife Margaret of Naples, ME and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held Thursday, May 22nd from 4 to 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial wasa celebrated Friday at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Ave., Derry. Burial with military honors followed at 1:00 pm in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
