Obituary

Stoughton- Joseph R. Holden, 82 years, of Stoughton, formerly of Lakeville and Holbrook , died unexpectedly Wednesday at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the husband of Catherine (Eddy) Holden.

Born October 14,1920 in Malden,MA he was the son of the late Joseph and Ellen (Crimmins) Holden . He was educated in Malden Public Schools.

Mr. Holden served in the United States Coast Guard as a SC 3rd Class from 1942 to 1945.

Mr. Holden was employed as a Fish Cutter with First National Fish Warehouse and in later years with the Globe Fish Company of Boston.

He was a late member of the Holbrook Council Knights of Columbus and the V.F.W. Post 1645 of Stoughton.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Susan Fay of Duxbury and Sharon Boermeester of Marshfield , A stepson Daniel Harrington of Abington and the late Kevin Harrington. Also survived by a sister Betty Devanna of Arizona and several grandchildren. He was also brother of the late Barbara Broderick and Richard Hogan.

His funeral will be at 8:15 A.M. , Tuesday from the Sheehan Funeral Home 115 Monk Street , Stoughton followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 A.M. in St. Michael Church Rt. 28 Avon Center . Burial will follow at the Veterans National Cemetery in Bourne At 11:15 A.M.

Visiting Hours are on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M..
