Laura M. (Rocha) Pires, 65, of New Bedford died February 28, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
She was the wife of Domingo "Julio" Pires of West Palm Beach, FL and daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Oliver) Rocha.
Mrs. Pires was born in New Bedford and lived in Middleboro for many years before returning to New Bedford 4 years ago.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Pires was formerly employed by Tobey Hospital for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed dancing and travel.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Kevin W. Pires of Middleboro; 2 brothers, Albert Rocha of Mt. Laurel, NJ and Augustus "Gus" Costa of Webster, MA; 2 sisters, Lillian Rocha Weeden and Lorraine Lobo, both of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren, Chalon Pires of San Diago, CA, Kevin W. Pires, Jr. and Taryn Pires, both of Wareham; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was the sister of the late Francisco Rocha.
