Malone Purvis Connor, 88, of Tifton died Friday, May 16, 2008, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2008, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Elder Craig DeLoach will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Charles W. Purvis, Wesley Purvis, Hugh Purvis, Jimmy Purvis, Benny Purvis, Darryl Fletcher and Charles Purvis will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mack Sirmans, Dan Griffin, W. A. Fletcher, Johnny Purvis, Freddie Walker, Deryck Perkins, and the Ladies Circle of Tifton Primitive Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 18, 2008, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Connor was born on August 13, 1919 in Gladys and was the daughter of Elbert B. Purvis and Janie Sirmans Purvis, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ewart Randolph Connor; four brothers; and one sister. She was a homemaker and a member of Tifton Primitive Baptist Church for 60 years. She was a loving mother and devoted friend to all who knew her.
Mrs. Connor is survived by one son, Ewart Connor of Tifton; two daughters, Barbara Minter of Tifton and Connie McGarian of Orlando, Florida; one brother, Curtis Purvis of Tifton; and one granddaughter, Cara McGarian of Orlando, Florida.
