Joseph L. Call, 66, of Seekonk formerly of Attleboro died unexpectedly on Thursday May 15, 2008 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Elaine (Beauregard) Call who passed away on May 3, 1994.
Born in Boston, MA on March 22, 1942 he was a son of the late Arthur and Hazel R. (Cutlip) Call.
He grew up in the Dorchester section of Boston and was educated in Dorchester schools. Upon graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served for 4 years before being honorably discharged on July 30, 1965 with the rank of MR2 (E-5). After serving his country he furthered his studies at Northeastern University and graduated with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Mr. Call was employed as a Mechanical Engineer at Datel in Mansfield for several years before retiring. He had previously worked for many years at Texas Instruments in Attleboro.
Joseph was an avid bingo and cribbage player. He enjoyed attending concerts at Tanglewood and spending time with his friends at the VFW in North Attleboro. He was a great father a devoted uncle, was a lifetime member of the DAV as well as a former 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Foxboro. A resident of Seekonk for over 20 years, he had previously resided in Attleboro.
He is survived by his devoted children; Kevin Beauregard of Florida, Doreen Garcia and her husband Jair of Florida and Michelle Beauregard of Newport, R.I. he was the dear brother of Eileen Kushmerek of Peabody, Lawrence J. Call of Florida, William F. Call of Milford, Rita T. Quirk of Pittsfield, Robert E. Call of Plainville, Mary E. Murphy of Fremont, N.H. and the late Arthur H. Call. He was the cherished grandfather of Amanda Garcia of Florida and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prayer services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday May 20th at 10:30 at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield. Burial with military honors will follow at 12:45 P.M. at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday May 19th from 4-9 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
Due to the limitation of flowers allowed at the National Cemetery in Bourne, Joseph’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the East Providence Animal Shelter 60 Commercial Way East Providence, R.I. 02914 or the DAV 1400 VFW Parkway West Roxbury, MA 02132.
