Alice (Tetrault) Gannon, 103, of New Bedford died Thursday May 15, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital, just eleven days prior to her 104th birthday. She was the wife of the late John F. Gannon.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Ludger and Regina (Bedard) Tetrault, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, and was a former active communicant of St. Boniface Parish.
Mrs. Gannon was formerly employed at Star Store in downtown New Bedford for many years prior to her retirement.
She was a longtime resident of the Caroline Apartments.
She leaves behind three daughters, Dorothy Marshall and her husband Channing of Georgetown, Delaware, Laura Poulton of Dartmouth, and Florence Curry and her husband Richard of New Bedford; seven grandchildren, Linda Joines, Janet Perone, John F. Poulton, Joyce Sheridan, Sandra Dias, Mark Curry, and Richard Curry; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was the mother-in-law of the late John Poulton, and sister of the late Irene Thibeault, Flora Fleurent, Laura Tetrault, and Romeo Tetrault.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
