Obituary

Leonard "Lorie" Wynn, 81, loving husband to Martha Haman Wynn for 55 years, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. He died at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held Monday, May 19, 2008, at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Tifton. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Tifton. Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Wayne Roe and Dr. Ches Smith, III will officiate. Webster Morgan, Gary Vowell, Mike Evans, Bill Evans, Keith Wynn and Kelly Wynn will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on May 18, 2008, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Bowen-Donaldson Chapel.

Lorie was born July 27, 1926 in Irwin County, where he graduated from Irwin County High School in 1944. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tifton and was a resident of Tifton for over 55 years. In his early years, Lorie was employed by William Brothers Grocery Company and Gordy Salt Company as a salesman. He also worked at Tifton Lumber Company for many years before retiring from the University of Georgia Experiment Station in 1994.

A Christian father, a friend to all, and an inspiration to his family and friends through his hard work, his dedication to serve others, and his endless faith.

Lorie is survived by his wife, Martha Haman Wynn; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Wynn Blalock and Randy W. Blalock, of Tifton; three wonderful grandchildren, Lindsay Leann Blalock, Whitney Wynn Blalock Jordan and her husband, Luke Jordan, who is serving in the U. S. Army in Iraq, and Garrett Ryan Blalock; a brother, Harold Wynn, and a sister, Martiel Moore, both of Ocilla; and many nieces and nephews.

He was born to Lee Jefferson Wynn and Elnora Boykin Wynn of Ocilla, who both preceded him in death.

After retirement, Lorie enjoyed gospel sings, Tift County High School sporting events, supporting the Atlanta Braves, the UGA Bulldogs and spending precious time with his grandchildren. Lorie loved everyone and will be missed by those dear to him.
