Obituary

Guy H. Giroux, 71, of Derry, NH, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at his home. Mr. Giroux was born in Ville LaSalle, Quebec, Canada on May 12, 1936, a son of the late Joseph Philipes and Jeanne (Boudrias) Giroux. He was a resident of Derry for the past five years, formerly living in Florida and Montreal, Canada. Mr. Giroux began working at a young age. He was a charismatic, charming and creative man who became quite an entrepreneur. His work took him all over Canada, the U.S., the Cayman Islands and he cherished the work that he did in the Canadian Northern Territories. He was a great visionary, creating and inventing many incredible things. Mr. Giroux had owned a general contracting firm, a trucking company and a transport trailer company. He will be missed and remembered as a very loving and caring person, a very humorous person with wonderful people skills and as a great listener.

He is survived by two daughters, Josee Giroux of Montreal, Canada, Sonia Giroux-Beaton of E. Derry, NH, a son, Eric Giroux of Nashua, NH, four granddaughters, Monelle, Alonie and Selima Le Gresley of Montreal and Dakota-Lee Dumont of E. Derry. He is also survived by many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and by his former wife, Madeleine Poulin of Londonderry, NH.

A local memorial remembrance gathering was held Friday, May 16, 2008 in the Halcyon Club, 11 Central St., Derry from 7-10pm. Visiting hours will then be held in the Residence Funeraire, 635 Cure Poirrier, Longueuil, Quebec, Canada on Friday, May 23, from 5-9pm with a liturgy from 9-9:30pm. The burial service will be held in the Cote des Neiges Cemetery, Section Notre-Dame, in Montreal, Quebec Canada on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 9:30am.
