GLOUCESTER: Vivien (Peavey) Lacerda Manning, 92, died Monday evening, May 12, 2008 in the Harborside Healthcare Cedar Glen in Danvers. She was the wife of the late Russell Lacerda and the late Peter Manning.
Born in Gloucester on March 18, 1916, she was the daughter of the late the late Mary (Borba) Peavey. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1933.
Vivien was employed for many years as a sales clerk and the former Almy’s and W. G. Brown department stores in Gloucester.
She was an active lifelong member of the Gloucester Fraternity Club, where she helped cook the Crowning meals. She was also a member of the Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, where she was active in the Guild of Our Lady. She was proud of her Portuguese heritage.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Don A. and Joyce Lacerda of Gloucester and Russell R. and Barbara Lacerda of Danvers, a stepson, Robert and his wife, Loretta Manning of Carmel, NY, four grandchildren, Gail Stewart of Londonderry, NH, Joyce and her husband, Mark Kornachuk of North Andover, Brad and his wife, Michelle Lacerda of Peabody and April and her husband, James Hautala of Gloucester, six step-grandchildren, Deborah and her husband, Richard Iappini of Falmouth, Carl and his wife, Deady Sinagra of Locust Hill, VA, Sandra Sinagra, her companion, Charles Kevorkian and her daughter, Jessica Sinagra all of Gloucester, Peter and his wife, Elizabeth Sinagra of Buffalo, NY, Christine and her husband, Michael Hallinan of Spartanburg, SC and Mary Catherine and her husband, Kevin Wheeler of Amenia, NY, five great-grandchildren, Robert Luttrell of Grand Prairie, TX, Selena and Ashley Stewart both of Londonderry, NH, Kaitlin Kornachuk of North Andover and Nathan Hautala of Gloucester, a sister, Barbara Amero, and sister-in-law, Mary Peavey both of Gloucester, a special friend, David Ingersoll of Rowley and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, Roy “Bud” Peavey, and her stepdaughter, Phyllis (Manning) and her husband, Capt. Carlo Sinagra.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, Prospect Street, Gloucester at 9:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect St., Gloucester, MA 01930 or to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
