DRACUT, MA - Ferdinando "Fred" Loffredo, 88, of Dracut, died Sunday May 11, 2008 at Fairhaven Healthcare Center in Lowell.
He was the loving husband of Dorella (Gingras) Loffredo for 66 years. He was born in Lawrence and moved to Dracut as a child. He was the son of the late Maria (Annaldo) and Tomasso Loffredo. Besides his wife, his survivors are two daughters and son-in-laws, Marie and Leo Robitaille, Elaine and Don Robitaille, a son David Loffredo and his wife Gail and a grandson, Randy Robitaille and his wife Jen.
Fred was devoted to his family. He was the co-captain of the football team at Dracut High School where he graduated in 1939. Fred was a member of what many know as the "Greatest Generation" and served as a Corporal in the Army in World War II in the South Pacific. He was employed 50 years at Litchfield Bros Oil Co. as a boiler technician and also employed at Wang from where he retired in 1984.
Fred enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, arts and crafts, and spending time with his family. He greatly appreciated his caring neighbors.
He was the brother of the late Dominic and Anthony Annaldo and brother of the late sisters Mary Ostiguy, Margaret Machea and Elizabeth Loffredo.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT on Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Thursday at 9 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Dracut. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell. As an expression of sympathy, flowers or a contribution of your choice may be made in his memory.
