Obituary

James A. “Butch” Williams, 65, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, May 9 at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 13 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Williams was born December 19, 1942 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Robert E. and Hazel Brown Williams. He was raised by A.O. and Nellie Williams. He lived in the community most of his life and graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1961. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era serving in Germany. He was a retired maintenance technician with 23 years service at Shaw Industries and currently employed with Ben Hill County. He was of the Baptist faith and was an avid motorcyclist.

Mr. Williams is survived by his ex-wife: Linda Day Williams of Fitzgerald; sons: Scott Hair of Dublin and James L. Williams of Griffin; step-daughter: Michelle Culpepper of Fitzgerald; step-son: Mitchell Bostic of Wray; as well as three grandchildren.
