Obituary

Robert H. Sellman, Jr., 81, of New Bedford died May 10, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
He was the husband of the late Lillian D. (Dias) Sellman.
Born in Emory Grove, MD, the son of the late Robert H. and Mary (Johnson) Sellman, he lived in New Bedford since 1967.
Mr. Sellman was a career serviceman serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After the service, he was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. In retirement, he was a custodian at St. James - St. John School.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Andrews-Dahill Post 1531 and the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World Carney Lodge #200.
Survivors include 2 sons, Robert H. Sellman, III, and his wife Betty, of Charlotte, NC and Jonathan M. Sellman of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Bernice Murray of Gaithersburg, MD; 4 grandchildren, Kerry Santos, Robert H. Sellman, IV, Desmond Sellman and Jonathan M. Sellman, Jr.; a great-granddaughter Lariyah Santos-Morales; numerous nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 12th at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday 5-8 PM.
