Scott Walter McNeil, age 55, of Franklin, passed away at home on May 8, 2008. Born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in East Texas/West Louisiana, he came to live in Franklin in 1987 when he was Chief Engineer for the construction of the high rise office building at 500 Boylston Street in Boston’s Back Bay.
Scott began his career in the Merchant Marines, and after sailing for 8 years, applied his skills in facilities maintenance and management with numerous firms, most recently at Sepracor in Marlborough, MA. He loved his home and family, and spent his free time fishing, sailing and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Scott loved learning about his Native American roots and studying their healing arts and culture, especially with his friends in Princeton, ME.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie McNeil; two sisters, Anne Adaway of Nederland, Texas, and Sharon Marenger of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; a brother, Daniel of Hot Springs, AR; his sons, Scott McNeil and wife Sommer of Adamsburg, PA, Jerramy McNeil of Juneau, Alaska, and Walter McNeil and his wife Audra of Jacksonville, AR; two daughters, Jessica Lynn Phillips of Kirbyville, TX, and Selinda-Jo Black of Port Arthur, TX; as well as loving step-children and grandchildren.
Scott was a member of the Association of Energy Engineers, the Springfield Council R S.M.M., the Commandery of Knights Templar, and Excelsior Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Franklin.
A private memorial celebration will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the charity of your choice.
