Lorraine F. Hubrich, 47

Lorraine F. (Denvir) Hubrich, 47, of Foxboro formerly of Mansfield, Norwood and Quincy died on Wednesday May 7, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous eight-year battle with breast cancer. She was the loving wife of Paul G. Hubrich to whom she was wed to on June 12, 1982.
Born in Quincy, MA on March 2, 1961 she was a devoted daughter of Robert F. and Frances (Signorello) Denvir of Quincy.
She was raised in the Hough’s Neck section of Quincy and was a 1979 graduate of Quincy High School. She furthered her studies at Simmons College in Boston.
Lorraine was an officer of the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, where she was a senior vice president responsible for its web sites, business development, and technology. Prior to joining this area, Lorraine worked in Fidelity Employer Services Company where she was a leader on the team that built Fidelity’s 401k business. She joined Fidelity Investments in 1989 after working at John Hancock Insurance Company for nine years.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, Lorraine began raising money for the American Cancer Society through their Making Strides Against Breast cancer walks with her team, “Invested Friends and Family.” Over the past eight years, her team has raised more than $200,000 and has been one of the top fundraising teams for the Boston event. Nationwide in 2007, Lorraine was one of the top individual fundraisers, personally generating over $45,000 in contributions.
A friend to all, Lorraine was known for her great sense of humor and superior organizational skills, she frequently gathered her family and friends at her home to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and other significant life milestones in grand style. Her nieces and nephews relied on her counsel to guide them, and she helped some start businesses or go to school. She always found time to visit and give support to her older relatives as well.
Whenever she could, Lorraine reached out to others with breast cancer to offer kind words of encouragement and advice. Her stoicism in fighting this disease was inspirational to others.
A devout parishioner at St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, she enjoyed teaching religious education to fourth graders and actively helping out for many years at the annual Septemberfest.
She had made her home in Foxboro for the past 10 years and was a former resident of Mansfield, Norwood and Quincy.
In addition to her loving husband of nearly 26 years and her devoted parents she is survived by her beloved sisters Carol Denvir Johnson and her husband Gerald of Brookfield, Virginia E. DelGreco of Kingston and Frances Denvir MacDonald and her husband Kenneth of Mansfield, also survived by several nieces and nephews, a large extended family, and many friends.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday May 13th at 9:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday May 12th from 4-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
