William E. Millett, Sr., 78, of 1075 Main Street died Thursday, May 8 in his home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 55 years Loretta M. (Pinard) Millett, two sons John P. Millett of Cherry Valley, William E. Millett, Jr. of Spencer, two daughters Kathleen I. Drapeau and Margaret M. Graham both of Cherry Valley, 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Millett was born in Leicester son of John P. and Laura (Connor) Millett. He graduated from Leicester High School in 1948 and was voted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. He worked at Norton Co. for many years before retiring and was a former Leicester Police Officer. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Cherry Valley post 443 American Legion and the Rochdale VFW post 7556. He was the chairman of the Leicester Housing Authority. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the Boston Red Sox.
The funeral will be held Saturday, May 10 with a Mass at 12:00 PM in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main Street, Leicester. After Cremation burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will precede the Mass from 10:00-11:45 AM in MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester.
