Salem: Walter J. Bradbury age 77 of Salem, died Thursday morning, May 8, 2008 at the Peabody Glen Healthcare Center in Peabody, following a long illness. He was the husband of Lorraine J. (Bergevin) Bradbury.
Born in Hartford, CT and raised in Manchester-by-the Sea and Newton, MA, he was the son of the late Solomon and Laura (Chipman) Bradbury. A veteran of the Korean War, Walter served in Germany during the Occupation. Following the war he lived in Tewksbury and later in Nashua, NH before moving to Salem, MA. Walter was manager of the Webber Home Center in Fitchburg until his retirement. He was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish of Salem.
In addition to his devoted wife Lorraine, he is survived by a sister, Caroline (Bradbury) Bradbury and her husband William of Millis, MA, a brother, Laurence Bradbury and his wife Joan of Bellingham and several nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Bradbury.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for his funeral on Monday, May 12, 2008 at 10:30 am at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem followed by his funeral mass in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem at 11 am. Visiting hours will precede his funeral from 9 am to 10:30 am. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
