Edward Lamar Powell, 89, of Hilton Head, South Carolina, formerly of Omega, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Life Care Center of Hilton Head in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2008, in Omega Cemetery. Rev. Grant Abernathy will officiate with burial to follow in Omega Cemetery.
Mr. Powell was born on October 25, 1918 in Tift County and was the son of Ed Lee Powell and Laura Averitt Powell, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jonell Marchant Powell and two sisters. He was a retired produce broker and a member of the Omega United Methodist Church.
Mr. Powell is survived by three daughters, Leanna "Anna" Oglesby of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Margaret "Molly" Sheppard of Hilton Head, South Carolina and Patricia "Tish" Bassett of Hilton Head, South Carolina; one brother, Robert Powell of Lake Blackshear; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
