Mae Powell Pitts, 77, of Omega died Monday, May 5, 2008, st Santa Rosa Medical Center in Milton, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Antioch Baptist Church in Colquitt County. Rev. Danny Smith, Rev. Wayne Boykin and Rev. Tom Studstill will officiate with burial to follow in Omega Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The women of Antioch Baptist Church in Colquitt County will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Pitts was born on January 31, 1931 in Colquitt County and was the daughter of George William Powell and Vera Pearl Colvin Powell, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Chris Pitts and Alan Pitts. She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Colquitt County.
Mrs. Pitts is survived by her husband, William C. Pitts of Omega; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Tommy Eubanks of Milton, Florida, and Linda and W. F. McFarland of Omega; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Jean Powell of Inglis, Florida, and Coy and Joyce Powell of Eatonton; two sisters, Ida Gulsby of Tifton and Nell Smith of San Antonio, Texas; and eight grandchildren and their families, Chris and Melinda McFarland, Katie, Allie and Josh of Opelika, Alabama, Julie and Keith Johnson and Nathan of Winter Garden, Florida, Christy and Kevin Odom, Blake and Haley of Arabi, Leanne and Lance Upson, Zack and Jarett of Milton, Florida, Debbie and Chris Landry and Tyler of Dallas, Texas, Kelli and Jason Glasscock and Davis of Mobile, Alabama, Lori and Trey Studstill of Valdosta, and Brandy and Brian Pruitt and Ryker of Jesup; and her extended family.
