Worcester—Emily L. (Brown) Chapin, 87, a long-time resident of Worcester and the surrounding area, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in Saint Vincent Hospital. Her husband of 59 years, Worcester Firefighter, Frank C. Chapin, died in 1995. She leaves two daughters, Merrilyn J. Holcomb of Williamsburg, MA and Susan Chapin Oikle and her husband James of Brunswick, ME; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Frederick Brown. Emily was born in Harrisburg, PA, daughter of William H. and Sadie F. (Willigar) Brown. She was a past member of Pilgrim Congregational Church, a former Girl Scout leader and PTA member. She was also a Hahnemann Hospital volunteer. She was an apartment-complex manager. Her greatest joy was her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held Sat., June 7th, 11:00 a.m. in Grove Cemetery, Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Girl Scouts – Montachusett Council, Inc., 81 Gold Star Blvd., Worcester MA 01606. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, is assisting the family with arrangements.
