Obituary

Julia M. Lopes (Ferreira) passed away on May 2nd at her granddaughter’s home in Brockton at the age of 97. Born in Portugal, she moved to Kingston, MA when she was 16 spending 79 years there before moving to California for 2 years and living her last months in Brockton. Mrs. Lopes is predeceased by her husband of 65 years Jose A. Lopes, her daughters Rose Ann Stowell and Alice Mae Costa, her brother John Ferreira, her sister Mary Peccini and her grandson Philip Stowell. She is survived by her 6 loving grandchildren Debbie Santos, David Stowell, John Costa, Paul Stowell, Maureen Zeman and Mark Stowell, 11 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. She also leaves her son–in–law Glenn Stowell. Julia had been a member of the Old Colony Council on Aging, the Portuguese Continental Union and enjoyed bingo, bus trips to Foxwoods, traveling and she especially loved to spend time with her family. In the early years she got together with the “Club Girls” every Monday night for card games. She had worked at Barnes Worsted as a specker for many years and retired from there in 1976. Funeral Service to be held on Wednesday, May 7th from the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St., (Rte. 3A), N. Plymouth at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in her honor at St. Mary’s Church in Plymouth at 10 o’clock. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Kingston.
