New Bedford- Daniel E. Silva age 81 died Thursday May 1, 2008, at Hathaway Manor Nursing Home after a long Illness. He was the husband of the late Agnes (Sousa), Companion of Kathy Medeiros of New Bedford, Father of Daniel E. Silva and his wife of North Dartmouth, and David J. Silva of Providence, Grandfather of Daniel E. Silva III , Melanie M. Silva, and Ethan D. Silva, and great grandfather of Jacob B. Silva. He was the brother of the late Lucy Santos Joseph E. and Gilbert Sylvia. Mr. Silva is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Silva was the son of the late Manuel and Maria (Silva) Sylvia. He was born in New Bedford. He worked as a Supervisor at City of New Bedford Park Dept. until his retirement. He was a member of the Teamsters and friends seniors, Freetown Post V F W 6643. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Silva’s Funeral will be at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Monday, at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 5-8 P.M.
