William E. Shaw, died unexpectedly, Thursday at his Medford home. He was 77.
Born and raised in Dorchester, William served in the US Coast Guard after high school. He then went to work for the Boston and Maine Railroad as an engineer. He was the third generation of his family to work for the railroad. His father and grandfather had done so before him. William lived in Dorchester for most of his life, but also lived briefly in concord and in Medford for the past 20 years.
He was the beloved son of the late William L. and Margurite L. (Crocker) Shaw. He was a dear brother of the late Robert F. Shaw and Dear brother-in-law Josephine K. Shaw of Concord. He was a devoted uncle to James “Larry” Park and his wife Karen of Stow, Joy Park of Acton, Dianne Park Keefe of Lincoln, Christine Shaw Giarrizzo and her husband James K. of Chelsea and also leaves many great nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family, Monday 4 - 8. Interment will be private.
