Obituary

Fernando Ampuero Migliassi of Arlington Heights, formerly of Newton, died on April 30, 2008.

Born in Santiago, Chile in 1930, the son of the late Luis Migliassi and Olivia Ampuero. He graduated with a degree in architecture from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He continued his studies as a Fulbright Scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology receiving a Master’s in Architecture degree in 1961. He was a partner in several architecture firms, designing large scale commercial projects as well as private residences around New England including Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod, the Berkshires, and the family home in Newton.

He leaves his wife of 42 years, Ana María Ortúzar; his children, Fernando of Miami, Florida, Valeria of Valencia, California and Andrea of Cambridge, Massachusetts; daughter-in-law Lara Mosko, son-in-law Daniel Collins; five grandchildren, Arden, Declan, Daniela, Faólan, and Alessa; two sisters, Paulina of Chile and Monica of Bethesda, Maryland; and, two nieces and a nephew.

Visiting hours will be held at the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home, 465 Centre Street, Newton, MA on Monday, May 5th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Parish, 1321 Centre Street, Newton, MA on Tuesday, May 6th at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury, MA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Hematology/Oncology Clinic at Mt. Auburn Hospital, 330 Mt. Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA 02138.
