Obituary

DRACUT - Raymond G. Bursey, 82, a lifelong Dracut resident, died Wednesday April 30th at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine M. (Bonin) Bursey with whom he would have celebrated 56 years of marriage in September.
He was born in Dracut on January 27, 1926, and was the son of the late Oliver J. and Rose (Allard) Bursey. He received his education in Dracut schools.
Mr. Bursey served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
In his early years Ray started out as a farmer. He was then the owner and operator for nine years of Ray's Superette in Pelham, NH. After that he was employed for many years by Dracut Hardware, and then was the owner and operator of Ray's Greenhouse in Dracut for more than 30 years.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spent many winters in Florida.
He was a lifelong communicant of Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish at St. Therese Church in Dracut, and he was a member of the Holy Name Society at Holy Trinity Church in Lowell.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Raymond R. Bursey of Dracut, Denise D. (Bursey) Bedard of Dracut, Gary R. Bursey and his wife Lorilee of Snohomish, WA, Richard C. Bursey and his wife Renee of N. Chelmsford, and Michele M. Bursey of Lowell; six grandchildren, one great grandchild; three brothers Roger Bursey and his wife Carole of Jupiter, FL, Robert Bursey and his wife Jeannine of Dracut, and Paul Bursey of Dracut; two sisters Doris Bursey of Dracut, and Florence Gosselin of Winchester; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Willis Bursey, and the brother-in-law of the late John Gosselin.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Monday from 6 until 8 PM. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday at 8 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass at 9 AM at St. Marguerite D' Youville Parish at St. Therese Church in Dracut. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford. The family is asking to please omit flowers. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, C/O St. Marguerite D'Youville Parish, 1340 Lakeview Ave., Dracut, MA 01826.
