Mrs. Lorraine M. (Riendeau) Mulvey died Sunday, March 9, in the North
Broward Medical Center, Deerfield Beach, Fla. following a period of failing health.
She was the wife of William J. Mulvey. She was born 76 years ago in New York
City, the daughter of the late Henry A. and Maryanna V. (Drewnoski) Riendeau. She
was educated in both New York and Taunton, and was a graduate of the former Saint
Mary’s High School and Boston University. She had been a Taunton resident for most
of her life, moving here with her family in 1940. Married in 1951, Mrs Mulvey moved
to Florida with her husband and son in 1957. She returned to Taunton in 1962, when
her late father was critically injured in a fire at the family business, The Riendeau Funeral
Home of Taunton. Upon her father’s passing, she assisted her husband with the operation
of the business until her retirement in 1999. Over the years she was well known for her
hairdressing of clients at the funeral home. Active in civic and charitable affairs through-out her life, she was a former member of the Morton Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and the
former Taunton Tennis and Swim Club. In her younger years, she was also a member of the Majorettes of the former St. Jacques Church. Among her many interests, she es- pecially enjoyed playing cards and, for many years, bingo. She also enjoyed summers at Bayview on Cape Cod, spending time in the winter with her husband in Pompano Beach and socializing with her many friends. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and
mother. Mrs. Mulvey was a communicant of the former St. Jacques Church.
In addition to her husband, she leaves:
2 sons: William G. Mulvey of Taunton
Geoffrey M. Mulvey of Taunton
several nieces, nephews and cousins
