Obituary

Gregory P. “Greg” Mullen, 48 of Franklin passed away at home on April 30, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Paula (Tuite) Mullen.
Born in Boston on July 18, 1959, the son of Retired Quincy Police Chief, Francis Mullen and Mary (Barrett) Mullen of Norwell, Mr. Mullen was raised in Hingham and had lived in Franklin for 17 years.
Mr. Mullen was a 1977 graduate of Hingham High School. An outstanding student, Greg went on to earn his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1981. While there he was selected by the faculty as one of the very few juniors to be cited for exceptional achievement. Greg also received his Masters Degree from MIT in 1987.
Mr. Mullen had been employed by Babcock Power in Worcester for the past nine years.
He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
A strong believer in education, physical activity, and the arts, Greg always supported the children’s academics and extracurricular activities. His happiest times were spent with his family. He especially enjoyed spending time at the beach, skiing, and taking family daytrips throughout New England. Greg cared deeply for everyone he met. To have known him was to respect him.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his children, Janet, David and Susan Mullen of Franklin.
He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Holland of Reading and brother, Michael Mullen of Marshfield.
His funeral will be held on Monday from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St., Franklin at 8:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 9:00.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4-8 p.m.
