Obituary

Tyler H. Brown, born in North Reading, Massachusetts, on March 14, 1929, of Hollis, New Hampshire, formerly of Medford, Massachusetts, was known for his quick wit and dedication to family and friends. His family immigrated to Massachusetts from Nova Scotia and lived in North Reading. Tyler was a graduate of the North Reading High School, class of 1947. He married Ruth I. (Pierce) of Medford in 1951 and they were married for 49 years having three children. Both were active with Community Baptist Church while living in Medford. In addition to being known for his talents with metal and wood he was generous with his time spent helping others around him. He was also in the Merchant Marines from 1948 to 1950.
Learning the machine trade during the 50's and 60's Mr. Brown perfected his trade and was deeply involved in the manufacturing of the heat shields for the Mercury Space Program while at Avco Research and Development in Wilmington, Massachusetts. His knack for learning how to alter anything mechanical to either fix it or make it meet a need carried into a career with New England Nuclear in Billerica, Massachusetts, which was bought by E. I. DuPont from which he retired in 1995.
Mr. Brown was an active member of the “Inspire Pulmonary Support Group”, a respiratory rehab organization in Nashua, New Hampshire, for many years. A lover of the ocean and fishing he shared his love of life with his children and grand children and was always known for being able to light up a quiet room with laughter and levity and never at the expense of another.
He will be sorely missed by his loving children; Melodye R. and her husband Louis D. Tacito of Merrimack, New Hampshire and Ernest and his wife Mary E. Brown of Chelmsford, six beloved grandchildren; Matthew, Cynthia, Katie, Stephen, Kristi and Damion, seven cherished great-grandchildren; Cameron, Trenton, Tori, Paige, Claudia, Savannah and Bronson and his dear sister; Lorraine Smith of Tewksbury. Tyler was also the devoted brother-in-law of Carrie Gianatasio, whom Tyler and Ruth raised from age 11, Darlene Rogers of Medford and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Tyler M. Brown and son of the late Clarence D. and Agnes (Ramey) Brown.
His funeral service was celebrated in the Community Baptist Church, 470 Fulton Street, Medford, Friday, May 2, 2008 at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held Thursday, May 1, 2008, in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. Interment was in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
