Myrtle (Pearson) Perkins, age 86, of 387 Pequot Avenue, Mystic died early Monday morning at Mystic Manor Rehabilitation & Nursing Center after an extended illness.
Myrtle was born in Salem, MA on April 8, 1916 the daughter of James B. and Beatrice (Hall) Pearson. At the age of 5, she moved to New London with her family, and was gradauted from Williams Memorial Institute. She later attended Mitchell College.
During World War II,she was employed at the New London Day Nursery. She also drove Ambulance for the American Red Cross, taking servicemen to hospital and doctor appointments. She later served as a Psychiatric Aide at Norwich State Hospital.
A resident of Mystic since 1949, Myrtle married Henry Perkins on August 13, 1960.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her dear Friends, Jim & Marianne Wydler, and their family, Mark, Jim and Alison, Drew, & Bradley Wydler, and three nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, Leslie Pearson and sister, Gladys
Her Funeral Service will be conducted at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 15 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Thursday at 2pm. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
