Obituary

Buck Castora, 66, of Chester, NH, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 in the Concord City Hospital in Concord, NH. Buck was born in Englewood, NJ on January 10, 1942, a son of the late Nicholas and Vivian R. (Serrell) Castora. He was a resident of Chester since 1974, formerly living in Nashua, NH and New Jersey. Buck was a US Navy veteran. He had been employed as Police Chief in Chester and had retired in 1997 as the Deputy Chief. He had also been employed as a police officer in Auburn, NH, and had worked for Continental Can Co. in Derry for 15 years. Buck enjoyed stock car racing and was an avid bird watcher.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Castora of Chester; two daughters, Valarie Castora of St. Paul, MN, and Vaughn McGillen of Auburn; one son, Brian Castora of Milford, NH; four grandchildren, Jackelyn Alexis Wright, Nicholas Diehl, Jordan Diehl, and Breanna McGillen; and one sister, Betty McMullan of Mechanicsburg, PA.
Calling hours were held on Thursday, May 1st from 9 - 11:30am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry with cremation following. A memorial reception followed the calling hours at his home at 267 Lane Rd., Chester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Massabesic Audobon Society, 26 Audubon Way, Auburn, NH 03032, or to The Raptor Center, 1920 Fitch Ave., St. Paul, MN 55108 (for bird of prey rehabilitation).
