Obituary

Monroe, CT—Dorothy Evelyn (Westermark) Danielson, 94, formerly of North Grafton, MA, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, in Saint Vincent’s Hospital, Bridgeport, CT. Her husband Aron Danielson died in 1996. She leaves a daughter, Marie Langdon and her husband Brian of Monroe, CT; 3 daughters-in-law, Pearl Danielson of Erie, PA; Roberta Weymouth of Wayne, ME; and Lillian Barry of Brewer, ME; 6 grandchildren, Lara Danielson of Cambridge Springs, PA; Jon Danielson of Erie, PA; Kristen Cohen and husband Lee of Needham, MA; Marjorie Nusom and husband Brian of Trumbull, CT; Todd Danielson and wife Nan of Fairfax Station, VA; and Heather Danielson of Rochester, NY; 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Sweden. She was predeceased by 2 sons, Rev. Robert E. Danielson and Kenneth E. Danielson.

She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Worcester, and the LCW, Dorcas Society, and bible study group of the church. She was a graduate of David Prouty High School and Becker Jr. College. She was a saleslady for the former Grant’s and a bookkeeper for Danielson Brothers Greenhouse. Evelyn will be remembered as a loving and caring person. She and Aron built their 60-year life together on a foundation made of their love, commitment to family, and strong faith in God. It was that faith that helped Evelyn manage the losses of her husband, her sons, and her own health challenges with dignity and grace.

Evelyn was known for her baking, cooking, crafts, and crocheting. Guests could always count on a freshly-baked Swedish coffee bun (as well as several more to take home). Each holiday season meant hundreds of Swedish meatballs and countless batches of Christmas cookies. She crocheted afghans for her home, her children, and her grandchildren. When handiwork became more challenging in her later years, she still managed to work little by little on crib afghans for several of her great-grandchildren. Family and friends will treasure the gifts of love made by Evelyn over the years—Christmas decorations, wall hangings, doilies, doll clothes, embroidered tablecloths and napkins, and “scrubbies”—too many to count.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 3rd, at 2 p.m. in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester, MA; followed by a Memorial Service at 2:30 p.m. in Emanuel Lutheran Church. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA is directing arrangements.
