Joe Batie Alvin B. ( Sonny) Batie, 83, Clarksville, departed his earthly life to join his heavenly family and friends, Monday, April 28, 2008, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Rev. David Fambrough officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday and from 9 AM until the hour of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born September 10, 1924 in Nashville, TN son of the late Sam C. Batie and Mattie Williams Batie. He was a member of Madison Street United Methodist Church. He had been associated with the Boy Scouts of America and the Clarksville Little League. Mr. Batie was owner of Batie's Auto Body Repair for 26 years. He served in the US Navy and was a veteran of WWII. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Arlene Culver Batie; a son, Steven K. Batie (Lynne); two daughters, Susan B. Steiner(Howard); and Cynthia B. Pasley (Brent); all of Clarksville; three sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Moore, Oklahoma; Jean Darke, Clarksville; and Linda Montgomery, Gulfport, Miss; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise B. Hill and a brother, Howard P. Batie. Pallbearers will be friends and family members.
