Mary S. Harden, 78, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the Life Care Center in Fitzgerald.
Memorial services will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Waldorf officiating. Interment will be private.
Mrs. Harden was born May 16, 1929 in Ben Hill County to the late B.R. and Alpha Dekle Sanders. She moved back to Fitzgerald in 1994 from Jacksonville, Florida. Mrs. Harden was an active member of Central United Methodist Church, the Covenant Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. She was instrumental in establishing the Banner Ministry by designing and helping to stitch the church banners. Mrs. Harden was very artistic and enjoyed making birthday and wedding cakes. She also loved to paint and sew.
Mrs. Harden is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, James E. “Jim” & Faye Harden, III of Fitzgerald and Roy Harden of Jacksonville, FL; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Martha Ann & L.S. Hiers of Valdosta. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, James E. Harden, Jr. and a brother, W.D. Stewart.
