Sara Frances Smith Pippin, 84, of Chula died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Brent Duncan, ThD, Chaplain of Hospice of Cordele will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Donald Pippin, Randy Fincham, Timothy Fincham, Kevin Gibbs, Wayne Newton, Shawn Moore, Steve Moore, Billy Braswell and Eddie Smith will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 28, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Pippin was born on July 2, 1923 in Stonewall and was the daughter of W. Cleve Smith and Agnes Belle Harris Smith, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, O. T. "Slick" Pippin; one daughter, Ann Fincham; seven brothers; four sisters; and one granddaughter, Kerri Gibbs. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Chula. She was a lifetime resident of Tift and Turner Counties.
Mrs. Pippin is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Tommy and Nickie Pippin of Flowery Branch, Robert and JoAnne Pippin of Chula, and Mike Pippin of Chula; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Craig Seagroves of Fitzgerald; one brother, Paul Smith; eleven grandchildren, Christina Pippin Wilkerson, Donna Pippin Moore, Donald Pippin, Jennifer Pippin, Becky Pippin Mullis, Robin Newton, Randy Fincham, Lisa Haynes, Timothy Fincham, Kevin Gibbs, and Erica Pippin; 17 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to United Hospice of Cordele, 706 East 16th Avenue, Cordele, GA 31015.
