Obituary

Michael J. George, 78 years, of Taunton, formerly of Brockton, died April 25, 2008. Born and raised in Brockton, son of the late Manthala and Mantura (Mahanna) George. He was a graduate of Brockton High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from Boston University and his Masters degree from Bridgewater State College. He had been employed as a Math Teacher from 1957-1990 in the Taunton Public School System, where he also coached baseball and football. During the Korean War he served in the Army Dental Corps. He enjoyed spending time with his family, socializing with friends, and was an avid Red Sox fan.

He is survived by his daughter Michele Clemons and her husband Joel of Hanson, two sons, Michael George and his wife Denise of Mansfield and Gary George of Brockton; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Jared, Elijah and Caleb Clemons and Calleigh and Hannah George; two sisters, Mary Davin and Lee Roukous; one brother, Manthala George, Jr., his former wife, Carol A. (Masefield) George and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Abraham, William, Joseph and Margaret George.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday at 9am. The Service of the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Theresa Maronite Catholic Church, 343 N. Main Street, Brockton at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8pm with the Service of Incense at 7:30pm.
