Obituary

LOWELL— Marie Catherine A. (Fissette) Potvin, 81 years old, died Thursday, April 24th, at the Lowell General Hospital.

She was born in Tyngsboro, on January 21, 1927, the daughter of the late William J. and Annie M. (Lord) Fissette, and was educated in the Tyngsboro Public School System.

Mrs. Potvin worked as a Foster Parent for the Massachusetts Department of Child Services for 25 years and provided a safe home for over 240 children. She also worked as a Hostess at the former Paramount Restaurant and Skip’s Restaurant, in Chelmsford, as well as several other area restaurants.

Surviving her are four daughters and a son-in-law: Mary Soukaras, of Amherst, NH; Lucille Legrecque, of Lowell; Daniza Potvin, of Falmouth; and Jessica and John Texiera, of Dracut; a brother and sister-in-law: Eugene and Eleanor Fissette, of Dracut; three granddaughters and their spouses: Susan and Ernest Norton, of North Barre, NH; Christine and Brian Tokarz, of Milford, NH; and Janice and Donald Meek, of Dracut; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Doris McLean and grandmother of the late Carolyn Herb.

Friends may call on Sunday, April 27th from 2 to 5 PM at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Mass to be offered on Monday, April 28th at 9 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH. Burial in the Lowell Cemetery.
