Obituary

JOHN W. "JACK" ROWLEY , 86, of Hingham, passed away on Thursday, April 24th from the effects of Alzheimer's Disease.

Born and raised in Tonawanda, New York, Jack lived in Hingham for the past 56 years. He was a member and past deacon of the Hingham Congregational Church, a former member of the Hingham Yacht Club and the Cohasset Golf Club where he served as House Chairman in the early 1980’s. During World War II, he served in Africa with the United States Army.

He was a self-employed manufacturer’s representative for numerous East Coast Metal Extrusion companies, retiring in 1988. Jack received his under graduate and Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University.

Recognized by his smile, humor and sincerity – he was extremely devoted to his late wife, Anne C. “Nan” Rowley and family. Jack is survived by his daughter Gayle Duff and her husband Ron of Norco, CA; his son Jay C. Rowley and his wife Judy (Threlfall) of Hingham; five grandchildren, Bethel Capps of Clarksville, TN, Christopher Clark of Anaheim, CA, Abby Clark of Norco, CA, Jill Rowley and Jenny Rowley both of Hingham and 4 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Sunday, April 27th at 1 PM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham. Visiting hours and flowers omitted by request.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to The Trustees of Reservations, 572 Essex St., Beverly, MA 01915 or The Alzheimer’s Assoc. Mass. Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.

The interment is private.
