Harvey Jerdon Brooks, 57, of Omega died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Omega Baptist Church. Rev. Terry Smith and Rev. Jimmy Odum will officiate with burial to follow in Omega Cemetery. Bobby Windom, Edward Franklin, Billy Wayne Franklin Jr., Larry Weeks, Walt Young and Eric Seymour will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Omega Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 26, 2008, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Brooks was born on March 5, 1951 in Zebulon and was the son of J. D. Brooks and Olamae Windom Brooks, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one son, David "Jess" Brooks. He was a construction worker who laid concrete and of the Baptist faith. He served in the National Guard from 1970 to 1979 and had lived in Omega all of his life.
Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife, Carol Willis Brooks of Omega; two step-daughters, Kayla Hile of Omega and Lisa Seymour of Lenox; one daughter-in-law, Susan Stevens of Omega; one sister, Angie Penley of Tifton; one uncle, Buford Flynt of Griffin; and two nieces, Shea Penley of Griffin and Christie Anderson of Nahunta.
