Obituary

Wesley W. Wight, 72, a longtime Derry, NH resident, died Sunday April 20, 2008 in the Sebasticook Valley Hospital, Pittsfield, ME. Mr. Wight was born in Quincy, MA on October 10, 1935 a son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Turner) Wight. He had recently moved to Palmyra, ME having lived most of his life in Derry. He served in the US Army National Guard during the 1950’s and 1960’s. Mr. Wight was employed for many years as a truck driver and in early years served as a special police officer and a call firefighter for the town of Derry. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Diane N. (Stone) Wight of Palmyra, two sons, Robert Wight of Palmyra, and Wayne Wight of Derry, two daughters, Karen Katz of Derry, and Donna Carlisle of Lawrence, MA, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, Geraldine Houston and Carolyn Houston both of Manchester, one brother, Philip Wight of Concord, NH, also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson, Kody S. Katz who died in 1992.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday April 23rd from 5 – 7:30pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services followed at 7:30pm in the funeral home. Following cremation, private burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Breath New Hampshire, 9 Cedarwood Dr., Unit 12, Bedford, NH 03110.
