Freetown – Harris H. Chace, Sr., 78, or E. Freetown died at home after a long illness on April 18, 208. He was the husband of Eleanor M. (Pittsley) Chace.
Mr. Chace was born in E. Freetown, son of the late Azel H. and Edna M. (DeMoranville) Chace, and was a lifelong resident of the town. He was a member of the East Freetown Congregational Christian Church. He was the owner/operator of Chace’s Woodyard until his retirement. He loved his work and also enjoyed hunting, auto racing and attending agricultural expositions.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by a daughter: Heidi M. Chace; 2 sons: Harris H. Chace, Jr. and Heath H. Chace; 4 sisters: Eleanor Pittsley, Phyllis Westgate, Marjorie Carrier and Mary Pittsley; and many nieces & nephews.
He was brother of the late Alice Westgate and Gertrude Chace.

Visiting hours on Monday, April 21,2008, 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 P.M. at the Kirby Funeral Home, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the East Freetown Congregational Christian Church, 2 Washburn Road, E. Freetown.
Interment in Chace Cemetery, E. Freetown.
