Obituary

Charles A. Ciulla, age 81, of Medford formerly of Everett, died April 16th, following a lengthy illness, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Helen M. (Tranford) Ciulla. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Samuel and Kathryn (DeLeo) Ciulla.

Mr. Ciulla, known as ”Chuck” to his family and friends was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Raised and educated in Everett, he was a graduate of Everett High School and was a member of the E Club lettering in baseball, football and track. Chuck worked as a carpenter for most of his working life and was a member of the Carpenter's Union Local 2168. He worked for many years with the Versatile Flooring Co. of Melrose. Chuck was also a very patriotic man who loved his country and was proud to serve in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant in the South Pacific during WWII. Chuck was a member of the Dante Club of Somerville, VFW Post 1012 of Medford and the American Legion Post 45 of Medford. He also volunteered his time and was the coach of the North Medford Little League Indians for 28 years. Mostly devoted to his loving family he cherished time spent with his grandchildren and also enjoyed time fishing and following the Patriots and Red Sox.

In addition to his late parents, Chuck is predeceased by his son, Charles S. Ciulla, sisters, Nelly Manetta, Lilly Cunha and Rose Donahue, brothers, Anthony, Alfred and Gus Ciulla.He is survived by his beloved wife Helen (Tranford) and their children, Robert and his wife Angela of Wilmington, Chris and his wife Shelley of Marblehead, Kathlyn Silvestri and her husband Ronald of Middleton, Lori Jacobson and her husband James of Montville, NJ. He was the loving grandfather of Matthew and Adam Silvestri, Jenelle, Amanda and Sydney Ciulla, Trey and Trevor Jacobson. He is also survived by his brother Thomas Ciulla and sisters, Josephine Bitto, Susan Defino and Nancy Galante.

His funeral will be held form the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Tuesday, April 22nd, at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8 at the funeral home. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Division of Development - Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, Floor 6, Brookline, MA 02445-9924.
