Obituary

FALL RIVER … Francis J. Manning, 89, of Fall River died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 after a long illness.
He was the husband for 61 years, of Doris A. (Fournier) Manning.
He died at Crawford Skilled Care Nursing Center on Oak Grove Ave., Fall River.
He was born in Fall River, a son of the late John P. and Bertha (Fielding) Manning and had been a life long resident of this city.
He was employed for 29 years as a Firefighter for the city of Fall River, retiring in 1981. Prior to being a Firefighter, he worked at the former Firestone Plant and after he retired from firefighting he worked at the former U.S. Records.
Mr. Manning was an Army Veteran of W.W.II. He was a graduate of the former Bradford Durfee Technical School. He was a member of the local 1314 Firefighters Union.
He enjoyed listening to music, reading, collecting albums and books.
Survivors include his wife, a son Patrick J. Manning of Fall River, 2 daughters: Frances B. Guiney of Fall River and Kathleen Gray of Foxborough, a brother John P. Manning of Los Angeles, CA, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday at 8AM from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, (508-672-0291) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9Am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church, Thomas Street, Fall River. Interment in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown, RI. Calling hours Friday 5 – 8 PM.
