Gary Douglas "Doug" Wiggins, 48, of Tifton died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. W. Ches Smith, III and Rev. John Hughes will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. David Brooks, Bobby Benson, Tommy Bowen, Mayo Tucker, Roy McWilliams, Ricky Page, Bick Bickerstaff and Bob Bowman will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 18, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Wiggins was born on August 19, 1959 in Tifton and was the son of Leonard Franklin Wiggins, Sr., deceased, and June Gibbs Wiggins of Tifton. He was a self-employed contractor and a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church. He had lived all of his life in Tifton; spending the last four years in Alligator Point, Florida.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Wiggins is survived by his wife, Kathy Wilson Wiggins of Tifton; one step-son, Kevin Long, Jr. of Bainbridge; two step-daughters, Tracy King of Lake Alfred, Florida and Regina Garcia of Tallahassee, Florida; one brother and sister-in-law, Lenny and Kellie Wiggins of Hahira and their children, Brooke and Britney; one sister and brother-in-law, Kay and John Dunn of Tifton and their children, Sonya Fulp, Stacie Donaldson and John Dunn; five step-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, great nieces and great nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Tift County Unit, P. O. Box 7514, Tifton, GA 31793.
