John S. Green, 84, of New Bedford died April 15, 2008 at Alden Court Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Branch) Green.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of the late James and Ozella (Johnson) Green, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Green was a member of the Union Baptist Church.
He was formerly employed by Teledyne Rodney Metals for many years until retirement.
Mr. Green served in the U.S. Air Force as a B-25 airplane engine repair mechanic during World War II and was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, American Service Medal and the good conduct medal.
He enjoyed fishing, camping on Cape Cod, model trains and sports.
Survivors include 2 sons, Lawrence Green of San Diego, CA and Otis Green of Roseville, CA; a daughter, Brenda Gonsalves of Newport, RI; 4 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Glenn Green.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 18th at 11:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. His family will receive guests on Friday from 10:30 - 11:30 AM prior to his service. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
