Obituary

Albert P. Doyle, 85, died Sunday April 13th, at the Centrastate Medical Center in Freehold. He was a lifelong resident of Brockton, MA, before moving to Monmouth Crossing, Freehold, in January 2008.
Mr. Doyle served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1943-1945 as a Yeoman, 2nd class. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal, the 4 Star Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal, and the Bronze Star Philippine Liberation Medal. Following his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to the family business, the Doyle Shoe Company, of Brockton, founded by his father in 1920. They were a major supplier of military boots during WW II. Following the sale of the business in 1965, Mr. Doyle along with his brothers became the owners of the Union Coal and Oil Company in Brockton from 1965-1978.
Mr. Doyle served as the leader of the American Red Cross/Brockton Disaster Team. He was a private airplane pilot and drummer. Mr. Doyle and his wife Fran were very involved in the City of Brockton Jazz Festival. He was a member of the Thorny Lea Country Club in Brockton, and a longtime close, personal friend of boxer Rocky Marciano.
Mr. Doyle is predeceased by his loving wives Martha, who died in 1991, and Frances,who died in 2007. Surviving is his son Mark Doyle and his wife Dorothy, of Marlboro, NJ his brothers, William E. Doyle, of Braintree, MA, and Donald C. Doyle and his wife Audrey, of Brockton, MA, and his 2 adoring grandchildren, Ryan and Caitlin.
Visitation will be held on Friday April 18th, from 5-8 pm at the Conley Funeral and Cremation Service 138 Belmont St, Brockton, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday April 19, at 9 am from the funeral home followed by a mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church at 10 am 433 West St. Brockton, MA. Interment with Military Honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 245 North St. Randolph, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Doyle’s memory can be made to the Brockton High School Music Dept. / Band Boosters. 470 Forest Avenue, Brockton, MA 02301
