Jennie (Kelly) Burke, 96 years of Painted Post, NY formerly of Brockton, died Monday April 14, 2008 at her daughter’s home in Painted Post, NY. She was the wife of the late John F. Burke. Born in Brockton, the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Tamasunis) Kelly. She had been a life long resident of Brockton until moving to Painted Post eight years ago to make her home with her daughter. She attended Brockton Schools and after her schooling she was employed in local shoe factories retiring from Knapp Brothers Shoe Company in 1975. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, and most of all enjoyed being with her family. Most recently at Easter she treated family members to her wonderful Irish Nuns Bread. She especially enjoyed sitting out on the deck at Keuka Lake in the summer sun, watching the boats, and talking to the passer-bys. Each morning she would say her rosaries and novenas for special family members.
She is survived by a son, John F. (Suzanne) Burke of So. Carolina and a daughter, Mary E. (William) Hallinan of Painted Post, NY; grandchildren Matthew (Allison) Burke, Amy Burke, Jennifer (Andrew) Walsh, Kathleen A. (Patrick) Hallinan-Roth, William M. Hallinan, and Mary M.
