
Frances Pernet, 84, of Elm Street, Noank, died peacefully Sunday April 13, 2008.
Frances Pernet was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 3, 1923 and christened Francesca Elizabeth Russo. In 1945 she married Eugene Ellsworth Schefers. They moved to Noank in 1960 where they raised their three children, Philip, Michael and Jeanne’, and then moved to Ledyard. After Gene’s death in 1975, Frances moved to PA to care for her late husband’s mother. There she married Donald Pernet, her mother-in.-law’s stepson. They shared happy years until his death in 1987. After Donald’s death Fran moved to Ft. Lauderdale and subsequently Lake City, FL.
Fran returned to Noank in 2003 and was an active, involved and caring member of her community. She volunteered her time to help others and was a devoted member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. She enjoyed weekly and monthly meetings, luncheons and pot lucks with her knitting group, breakfast club, church crafters, widows and widowers, red hats, bingo buddies and friends at MRH. She loved travel and reading, but enjoyed nothing more than cooking and socializing, family and friends.
She was predeceased by her infant daughter Patricia in 1948 and five years ago by her son Philip of Groton. She leaves his widow, Mary Ellen Schefers, granddaughter Alison, great granddaughter Madelyn of Noank, and granddaughter Sydney Schefers of Groton. She leaves her son, Michael and, his wife Sylvia Lynch of Stonington, grandson Joshua Schefers and his wife Cashel O’Boyle and great grandchildren Fionnuala and Sinead of Alameda, CA, grandson Benjamin Schefers and his wife Rachel McNeilly of San Francisco , CA. She leaves her daughter Jeanne’ Neubelt and husband Robert, and grandchildren Jessica and Daniel of Mystic.
She was dearly loved and will be missed by nieces, nephews and extended family, her many friends and all those whose lives she touched in Pennsylvania, Florida and Connecticut.
A Memorial Service for Fran will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 15 Pearl St., Mystic on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 1pm. Fr. Mark A. Santucci, Rector will be celebrant.
