Obituary

Thomas J. Regan, a longtime resident of Charlestown, died on Sunday April 13, 2008 at his home in Charlestown following a 3 month illness.

Tom was born in Boyle, County Roscommon, Ireland in 1918. He grew up there, attending schools there also. He came to the United States in 1946 and began working as a meat cutter for T.F. Kinnealley Wholesale Meats in Boston and Savenor Market also in Boston. He retired in 1987 from Kinnealley Wholesale Meats. Tom was former president of St. Catherine's Parish of Charlestown Holy Name Society and was a member of The Irish Social Club of Boston.

Tom is the beloved husband of Anne (Ryan) Regan. He is the devoted father of Christina M. Roche and her husband Kevin of Medfield, Thomas J. Regan Jr. and his wife Joanne of Norwell, John P. Regan and his wife Karen of Wrentham, Patrick J. Regan of Salem, Marianne E. Broderick and her husband Kevin of Charlestown. He is the loving grandfather of 11 grandchildren. He is the beloved son of the late Bartley and Elizabeth Regan.

Tom's Funeral will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Tom will be on Wednesday April 16, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make memorial donations in Tom's name to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tn. 38105.
