LEICESTER: Helen B. (Dandro) Hadley,84, of 17 Brookside Dr., died Monday, April 14 at The Meadows of Leicester.
She was the wife of George F. Hadley who died in 1995. She leaves a son Robert G. Hadley and his wife Jane of Coventry, R.I., three daughters Mary Jane Ostromecky and her husband James E. of Spencer, Nancy A. and her husband Walter Kovaleski, Jr. of Oxford and Susan H. Young and her husband Mark of E.Falmouth, a brother A.Walter Dandro and his wife Dorothy of Leicester, nine grand children Robert G. and David E. Hadley, Melissa A. Carver, Karen L. MacKenzie, Dawn M. Mozina, Kevin P. Kovaleski, Susan M. Direnzo, Stephen M. and Megan S. Young, and seven great grand children, nieces and nephews. Her very dear friend Larry St. Denis of Leicester. She is predeceased by a brother Francis Dandro, her twin sister Eleanor Emond, sisters Mary Kerber, Laura Priestley and Marion Harney.
Helen was a member of St. Aloysius-St. Jude Church, the Leicester Council on Aging, Leicester Red Hat Society and was a volunteer driver for FISH. She was a volunteer for Share New England and a member of the Senior Citizen Club of Leicester, its Bowling League and helped organize many bus trips for the elderly to the "casino". She was a member of the Leicester Senior Center Building Committee. At one time, she was a Youth Girls Basketball and Softball Coach for the Leicester Recreation League.
She was a bookkeeper at Eddy's Auto in Leicester for many years and then at Abrasive Too & Die in Auburn before retiring in 1988.
Born in Leicester, she was the daughter of Louis and Mary Julia (Cole) Dandro.
The funeral will be held on Friday, April 18 from the MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Aloysius-St. Jude Church, 496 Pleasant St., Leicester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are Thursday, April 17 from 4 to 7p.m.
