Mary Dori of Norfolk died on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Marquardt Nursing Center in Waltham after suffering complications due to Alzheimer’s Disease. Mary was the beloved foster daughter of Gladys Catlin of Norfolk and foster sister of Adam, Suzanna Dangelo, Marcie Mackey, and the late Edward Mackey. Mary was unofficially adopted and cherished by the extended Catlin family including Mae and Kent Stroh of Plainville, Helen Buckley of Maryland and many foster nieces and nephews.
Mary was born in Fitchburg to Americo Dori and Irma Snellman Dori on March 2, 1957. She had Down's Syndrome and was immediately placed at the Wrentham State School. Gladys Catlin took Mary home in 1965 and that situation endured for the next 43 years.
Mary had a lovely smile and a happy disposition. She was much appreciated at her weekday program and made many longtime friends. She traveled frequently with her foster mother and those trips included Aruba, Bermuda, Florida, Virginia, Maine and Pennsylvania. Mary loved to do crossword puzzles and make the rounds of her community. She will be greatly missed.
Mary is also survived by her sisters, Elaine (Dori) Decell of Lunenberg and Caroline (Dori) Allaire of Tallahassee, FL.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services at the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St., Franklin on Thursday, April 17 at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at the Norfolk Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 P.M.
