Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Emery F. Lane, 64, of 62 Poplar Park, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, in the Addison Gilbert Hospital following an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Vita A. “Cookie” (Genovese) Lane, who died in June of 1998. They had shared thirty-four years of marriage.
Born in Gloucester on May 31, 1943, he was the son of the late James O., Jr. and Anna Margaret (Santapaola) Lane.
Emery was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1961. For most of his life, he was self-employed as a commercial clam digger. He was also a longtime active member of the Cape Ann Chapter #1471 Loyal Order of Moose.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James O. and Gina (Marino) Lane of Gloucester, a daughter and son-in-law, Noblee A. and Glenn Dube of Beverly, four grandchildren, Natasha Harkins-Dube and Jacob Dube both of Beverly, Marissa and Christina Lane both of Gloucester, two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Doreen and Philip “Butch” Angileri of Bridgewater, Lois and William McRae, and Bruce Gordon all of Gloucester. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and in-laws. He was also predeceased by a brother, James O. Lane, III and a sister, Jeanne L. Gordon.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday evening in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 5 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Prayers of committal will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
